Amanda and James chose a Sailor Moon theme for their early December wedding at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel. Their Just Marry! Day-of Wedding Coordinator, Danielle, was delighted to partner with them and make sure all of their DIY details came together just as they envisioned. It was such a fun day filled with unforgettable moments, from the beautiful bride’s first look with her father and then with her groom to their post-wedding venture over to Universal’s CityWalk for an extended late-night celebration.
We thought Amanda looked absolutely beautiful in her lace, off-the-shoulder wedding gown. She accented it with a tiara that made her look just like a princess and a pair of crescent moon earrings that perfectly captured their Sailor Moon theme. James wore a long-tailed black tuxedo with a white vest and bowtie that took sophistication to the next level. They looked amazing together!
There were many other ways that Amanda and James captured their Sailor Moon theme for their wedding. They chose Sailor Moon themed stationery and escort cards, including table name signs. The bride also carried a Sailor Moon Crescent Moon Wand with her bridal bouquet. Even their clothing hangers were Sailor Moon themed!

The Just Marry! Team so enjoyed bringing Amanda and James’ Sailor Moon theme to life for their Loews Portofino Bay Hotel wedding! We asked their wedding planner, Danielle, some questions about the event, and this is what she shared:
Did anything unexpected happen on the big day?
Yes! The skies surprised everyone by opening up just before the start of the ceremony. We quickly whisked the guests inside, and when the rain shower passed in a couple of minutes, our team went out with the Portofino’s team to dry off the seats and get the guests seated again so we could begin the ceremony.
What was something about this wedding that stood out to you?
Their super sweet Sailor Moon theme! This was something I’d never seen before. It was such a fun and unique wedding!
What modern or trendy elements did the couple include?
Amanda and James gave Sailor Moon themed cake pops as their favors, which were a hit with all their guests! Everyone enjoyed the two different options they had, and treats are always a trendy favor that guests enjoy. The couple also went over to CityWalk following their reception for after-party fun. It was such a great way to keep the crowd celebrating the night away!
What was the couple’s choice of first dance song?
“Close in the Distance” by Masayoshi Soken.
The Portofino Bay Hotel is lovely venue to showcase a Sailor Moon theme! Some of our favorite details about the Portofino are its lovely European elegance, the option to enjoy a glass of wine and gourmet food options at Harbor Nights on select nights, and Musica della Notte, a nightly live opera held in the Harbor Piazza.
